I am ashamed to say I saw my baby for the first time in probably over 12 months. My dad lost the keys to the lock up I am using and the old lady who was kind enough to let me use it free of charge has been away for a year staying with her daughter so I could not get in and work was always holding me back from making the 60 mile drive to see her.
Anyway after a drive down and going through my dad's 8/9 spare keys witch he had no idea what half of them were for  ;D and after failing to get a match we decided to buy a new lock and get the Makita 18V grinder out.

Once in the garage there she was under the cover as I left her windows open just 5mm for air so no mould on the seats or dash no new rust either  :) Just sitting there on the axle stands as sweet as I last left her.
I am lucky as the garage is bone dry and has good ventilation.
CANT WAIT TO GET MY OWN GARAGE   :'(

Good stuff Angus are you going to use it this summer?
possible trip to Eire in early september maby? ;)

If I make some half decent cash in the next few months and get that damn 32adf carb to work for more than a half hour and get a Mot I might maybe consider it as her last ever big journey before a complete strip down..

A 131 Racing aka Sport & S3 2000/TC Super had a 34 ADF carb, the 32 ADF was used on the 131 Super 1300/1400/1600/TC's.

Like I said the above was my mistake and thank you for pointing it out.
But, Oh!! You have it wrong! I think you will find its the following.
Fiat 131 Sport aka Fiat 131 racing  ;D
Look into the Fiat history and you will find the SPORT came first before the Racing  ;D ;D ;D

 ;D. But ! Now almost all the die hard 131 Sport guys on the forum have put the correct Racing badge on their 131's now :D

It's a SPORT not racing you all keep removing the original SPORT badge and replacing it with a racing badge the only thing it will do is put up the price of the real original SPORT with the real original rear light badge up in price  ;D ;D ;D

I am going to take off that wrong Sport badge and put on the right Racing badge when you come over to Ireland for the 40th run in September ?  ;D  

Well f##k it I will be just picked on if I come over  ;D so I'll ask Fiat to make me false rear light badges saying racing, bearing in mind like I said to Sid 2/3 tear ago you guys have stolen every decent Fiat 131, RS 2000, Manta, Ascona we have  ;)

Anyway, "Racing" does sound much cooler than "Sport"  ;) that's why I did replace my (correct) Sport badge with a Racing badge  8)

Well strictly speaking I wonder is there any such thing as a Fiat 131 Sport? It's either a Fiat 131 Mirafiori Sport or a Fiat 131 Racing ....in my opinion .....as you will not see a car leaving Fiat badged as a Fiat 131 Sport. Confusingly, most of the Fiat and press documentation from the time shortens the name to Fiat 131 Sport (and in a few incidences Fiat Mirafiori Sport).

As for the timing of the names in relation to each other, from my Fiat launch info (in English and for the Irish market admittedly ....and dated Aug 1978) the car was first jointly referred to as both a Racing and a Sport although without consulting with someone in Fiat who would know if one preceded the other, I'm not sure exactly how we could prove which statement was correct. If I had to guess, I would say Racing came first because of the stories about the Fiat importers in some markets being wary of how insurers might rate a model called Racing for underwriting purposes.

I don't care if they're called Racing, Sport, Antonio, Giuseppe, or what - I just want another one.....please ;D, and that's not the Tangle Foot talking either (although I have had a bottle or two now :o ;D)
