Title: 131 racing or abarth replica?
Post by: lorf on May 22, 2014, 07:07:01 PM
As the subject says..... I have a 131 racing that was intended to be an abarth replica.. but I'm having second thoughts about it. What's the "public" opinion? The car isn't so bad that it can't be rescued...

O my god ..it's that question again ... Keeps coming around  :D

A nice sport is lovely .. But then so is a nice replica ..
It's really a personal thing ..it depends on what visually does it for you ..
You will get plenty of views here on what's best , but it's your car & when you look out the window at it in a year or 2 When it's finished .. You got to ask yourself , which will put a bigger smile on your face ?
The finished Sport. Or the finished Replica ?

Old discussion, 1 answer, leave it Original, there are plenty of half way finished or unfinished Abarthski projects around( and also a few really nice great and good ones) but there flows a lot of money in.

but there flows a lot of money in.
A nice Racing will
1 Need less cash flow.
2 Be easier to gather the parts for.
3 Be finished sooner because of 1 & 2.
4 Be a nice tractable street car that will get used often
Some times we can go overboard & create a monster when all we really wanted was an animal.
A nice racing can purr & if needs arise it can also growl.

I agree with Chris,  Leave it as a Sport/Racing, you can't go wrong with such a nice road car.  Save the money for some suspension and engine improvements...Then drive the wheels off of it.  Mike Stinson

I'd say leave it as a Racing especially as the body doesn't look that rotten.

i think only a handful can build a Abarth replica from a racing!
and yes it's correct as Albert says there are plenty of half way finished or unfinished Abarth projects.

If you like the Abarth style,  rebuild it like the Walter R?hrl edition,
with roofspoiler, rear spoiler and the Abarth engine bonnet.

Leave it a racing and get a half-finished replica to finish it yourself!  ;)

It would be nice left as a racing with the blue trim
