Title: Wheel Lug bolts
Post by: Crazypierre on August 31, 2014, 05:52:45 AM
Hi
Got myself a set of 14 inch alloy wheels for my '79 1300 CL to replace the skinny 13 inch original steel ones.

Of course I had forgotten the alloys are thicker where the bolts go through and my current lug bolts are too short.

So, I wonder if you know whether lug bolts from other more modern Italian cars may fit such as off Punto's or Alfa Romeo's fitted with alloys? This would make them easier to find.  Or what size thread do I need to look for?

Otherwise, does anyone have any longer lug bolts to sell me. I think they need to be about an inch longer than the standard ones.

Finally, there are two locating studs on the hubs (pointy) that protrude so you can hold the wheel in place while you insert the lug bolts.  The alloys don't have the female holes for these to slot into. Am I right in thinking these simply unscrew so I can fit the alloys?  If so, any tips? Are they likely to snap off after 35 years?

Thanks all.
Pete
