Title: Member age
Post by: 131mania on January 18, 2015, 04:27:44 AM
Gentlemen,

I know this may be an odd question..... But....

How old is everyone here? Please post your age. I am asking to see if there are any younger members or people below maybe 40..... interested in our cars.

I fell in love because my father was a Fiat master mechanic here in the US many years ago.

Well if you do the math...I was 22 when I bought my car and have had it 35 years so far.  I still enjoy the car to this day,  only difference is I had a bit more color in my hair when the car was purchased new.  Try 57 years old.  Mike Stinson

Am also the wrong side of 40. I think here in the UK the appeal of these cars is a generational thing, either those who saw them at the time, and those others who robbed the engines from the countless rusty wrecks left by the roadside through the late 80's early 90's. I've had more than a few stop me and ask what mine is when I've been out and about....

This is interesting..... Do you think the love for the 131's will be gone with us????

The younger crowd is not even into cars anymore. Most don't know how to do anything to them..... except to put gas in them.....It's quite scary and sad......

Hi All.
This is a Question I was thinking of asking about my next Birthday I will be a very young 64 ;). I did not start to
drive Fiats until 1989 which means I am driving some sort of Fiat for the last 26 years I still fell young as most of
my Friends are in their 40s.I have no worry about my Cars if I Pass onto another world as my Sons and Daughters
often drive my Cars to some Car shows. On this Forum I know a lot of People in their 20s and 30s who drive 131s
so I would say as long as we look after our 131s they will be seen on the roads for a Long time to come ;D.
       Willie.

Have to disagree with that, there's a very strong retro scene here in the UK ;D. A lot of people remember them when they where younger, when someone finds out I've got a 131 most say.."What a Supermirafiori !!!, my mate/brother/next door neighbour had one". Even last year at the Vauxhall meet at Billing I got speaking to bloke and he was surprised any still existed !!!.

Anyway back on topic ::). I first got into Fiats when I saw an Abarth on tv way back in the early 80's and got my first and current 131 in 1987 at the tender age of 20....28 years ago ::).

My first car was a 131, series 2 1600TC..... It had baked bean cans back jacked under the sills.... Cost ?50

Have had a number of other Fiats since, including a couple of superb 20VT Coupes, but am loving having finally found a decent 131 again. Would have loved a sport, but hit the loud peddle in my Super and you forget the extra doors :)

55 now, started with a 125 special in the 80's.
In Australia there never were very many Fiats so it seems quite ironical that my fathers first car was a 1922 Fiat. He is 84 now so that must have been sixty odd years back now.
Nowadays not many here & especially the young don't know what sort of car I am driving & say "I love your number plate, but what sort of car is it ?"
They are not to young to know what POQ means. (Piss Off Quick).
