Title: serious question
Post by: simon abarth on January 13, 2016, 08:55:42 PM
who, as of today, wants to build a replica fiat 131 ???
when I was registered with this site, it was there several construction projects, replica, race,
but since a lot of time, I do not see many more or unfinished projects
(Do not take mine project for example!)
people do not have enough time? money?
even the two doors 131 are not too seek to build one, no?
it is really sad that there is more enthusiasm for, in my country I can understand, we are in a recession, so no money, so no motivation, but elsewhere in the world?
Here, my question is launched, please, some answers ...

In this part of the world there are very few 2 door 131's, New Zealand got some, Oz didn't. Besides, why would you turn a perfectly good, rare, Sport/Racing into a wrecklica?

I think you have not understood my question,
because my English is bad, sorry,
I wonder why there is not reconstruction project fiat 131,
whereas there were several two years earlier, or some unfinished?

I'm very busy building Tarmac spec 131 rally car over the last couple of years however I  just don't have enough time to post all of the progress on here, maybe I will try to do just that, after all with out people posting their projects my efforts would be even slower!!

I'm glad to hear responses like yours,
and also, happy to know that there are other projects in preparation  :)

Hi Pasquale!

I don't know how many of the started Abarth replica projects never get finished, either its lack of knowledge, underestimated the amount work it takes or lack of money!
Perhaps 25-30% get finished and drivable is my guess..

Here in Sweden I have seen more inside never leaving the garage than outside driving them!
Cheers
Alf

Answer is simple in my opinion, where did you see a good 2 door usable for a replica?

And Sports/Racings used before are much more valuable nowadays so people don't use them anymore(almost)

thank you, ALF and ALBERT, for your answer , and NOB555 too, I think you are right,
and, further, here in France, people have no interest for cars,
when you talk about cars, people answer:
ah yes, it stinks and it makes noise ... well, you know what I mean,
but is it the same may be elsewhere?

More and more stupid talk about environment and scrappage shit, it is more and more difficult here in Holland but I keep on going collecting nice cars as there is nothing nicer  driving as an old 131-132-Argenta or period Alfa-Lancia for me!

Hi, interesting question and answers.  I agree life gets busy and sometimes I just don't get time to update forums.  Also agree financially some markets are doing it tuff and projects get put on hold.  Could have finished my project in 3 years, but financially it made sense to complete over 10 years.
Mine did get finished so I hope you enjoy.

I know of somebody who recently sold a nice Racing for 11.500 euro as basis for a replica   ::)

So there are still projects started   :D

11500 euro :o To make a replica! in which country are the people who pay so much money to demolish a car, in part  ??? I understand better why people request 30000 or 40000 euro for a replica!for me, 131  racing in super condition must remain original, they have their value, and use a rusty, worn, or not fully, to build a replica
if you think it is rare to find a racing 131 or two doors to make a replica, then I can offer you, mine. it is not worth 11 500 euros!
it's already a racing car, but this is not the place for this post!

The buyer was from the UK...  And in fact he is probably rigth, as trying to build a replica from a rusty old banger leads very often to an abandoned project

It's so much easier to just remove the parts you don't need and replace them with plastic, instead of having to weld for years.

That being said.  It was a pity as the Racing was an original black one.   :'(

Later cars had series 2 rear panel , so thought I'd leave it alone Kevin

Yves,
she was driving on the right, at least this racing  :D :D :D

I spent several years of my life building cars for the race,
a true replica, it is a race car, so all that is not for tourism is useless!
the guy who put the money in a car like this, do not understand, or he has a lot of money to throw out the window! or both !!!
oh yes, it's true, in GBP, this is just 10000!

for rotten cars that nobody wanted it a few years ago,
I think a lot of guys full of money who want to get noticed
fell on his head  >:(

Hi everybody,
to go back to the main question, some of you should say:
131 racing / sport are rare to find, and there is no other project begins,
then I suggest this, is who cares
a 131 LHD racing. it is a race car. no registration for the road. but France homologation rally or circuit.
no rust, but work on the bodywork, interior roll cage, rally seats 2
engine 2000 Fiat Abarth 130 TC ritmo, racing gear box, and another, and another ...
good basis for project ABARTH REPLICA,
if someone wants to go ... tell me!

I think this car will be on EBAY soon, if nobody wants here!
