Title: Fuse's for sport
Post by: 106usj on December 15, 2009, 09:05:08 PM

You should be able to get them from your local motor factors.

I often replace them all when I get a new car as old ones can sometimes give problems.

If there is space in the fusebox for a few spares that is useful too ;)

Can't remember what they are called perhaps Continental?

They are fitted to old Mercs so I see them regularly!

Yes I believe 'Continental' is the correct name for them. Halfords sell these and I would have thought any car accessory shop will have them. But isn't black meant to be 16 amp and white for 8 amp?

You are right they are called continental jst spoke to guy in motor factor on phone they are still common enough, fit merc as said and renault

Issue closed thanks..

I think black is 16amp, white 8amp, yellow 5amp, red 20amp green 30amp. My memory is too bad and I am mostly guessing here but I could check....

As far as I know 131 fuses are of two kinds, 8 Amp and 16 Amp. You should change them all if they're old as even if not broken they usually lose their conducting power with time and could give you very bad problems, in my car radiator fan switch fuse (apparently good) failed and as a result I got boiling coolant. Also my lights were pretty low and my wiper too. So I changed all the fuses and there was a difference as from night to day.

I found the below on the Internet after a quick search. It would seem from that that multiple colours are used for the same rating and both black and white are 8 amp.

I'm happy it was useful to you, about the wipers I renewed it dismantling the whole system and changing the plastic bushes that keep in place the wipers, I changed them because the drivers one was weared out and caused malfunction and water leak when car was cleaned, removing the inner grease. For the system to work good you'll need new plastic bushings and rubber o-ring that keep water off, if you can't afford them separately you'll need a new system. Apart this I had the electrical engine burned out so I changed it.

I would look at the condition of the earth wire to the wiper motor at the end where it attaches to body as your problem could be there

you better ask Yagmur for the full system, it's worth the price (and it's cheap compared to european standards).
