Hah! I see where your coming from on the Italian job theme, shame about the Escort eh! The last one was meant to be another 130 Coupe but it looks like its been sold to Sweden so might well be going direct, held the transport up while being decided to the point we have had to just get on with the rest and worry about the other one later. Yes silver 131 is nice, well everyone "comented" on the other ones colour so we thought we would stick to the more normal on this one, nice low kms sliding metal sun roof and blue velour interior  ;D

Nice picture - tough job but someone's got to do it  :)

Don't worry about the Mk1 - legend has it that a prototype MK1 was sent to the Ford plant in Boreham, Essex and two engineers joked "that would really move with a (Ford / Lotus) Twin cam in it"  They looked at each other and the rest is history.......

Who would FIAT have had to race againt if it wasn't for the Essex boys with their MK 1 & 2 Escorts?

;D Hah! That was me Steve. Friends had the AVO's and RS Escorts me i had Fiat Twin cams, Alfa's and Lancia's. I did have a 1300-E once i paid ?40 for it back then, one of those "wish i had kept it" cars. I am sure we all have them. G

Hello, are all those yours? Can you post some pictures of the fiat 130 coupe? As far as I remember, the black plastic stripe on the 131 doors was an option for some export markets. This was not an option in Italy.

Hi the Topolino is sold and one we arranged the transport for. The bikes were just transport. The rest are ours. The 131, according to the dating cert is a Jan 1980 produced car built in Italy, i know its been there all its life so not sure about the extra strips being for export markets? The 130 i have attached pics of it in Italy before being loaded. Both of these cars have been in a private collection for 20 odd years, the 130 is showing 66K kms and the 131 72K kms respectively, and are in lovely condition. Both will be going away to have a cam-belt and full service prior to be sold. I will get and post some pics asap. Thanks. G

This stripes were never an option, or they were standard mounted Or it was an accessorie, just like mudflaps you could order it. So you see it more on the still preserved cars owned by elderly first owners........

Hi Albert, thanks for clearing that up. Having looked at the original italian paperwork, you are right it was bought new by a gent 02/01/81 who was born 19/01/1940 so 41 years old a the time. He p/x'd back to the original dealer who kept it till we bought it. It was registered in Vicenza from new and stayed there. So officially one owner  :o G

All these pictures are off the car as it arrived, the only thing we have done so far is put it through our local hand car wash to get the dust off her, it has not been polished or even hoovered!!

Will try to, seems to have a fueling problem at the mo. Guess its from standing so long and blocked the carb, so not mobile. Its going off to have its cam belt and service so will be sorted then. In the mean time i get some where it sits ,on Monday when with it next(we are a bit tight for room so packed it quite closely). G

And as I know you lot like pics, here are some of the 67 500. For the more observant amongst you. Yes it is original Italian Right Hand Drive ! Rare as rocking horse poo! Now get your heads round this. For what this is worth you could by a mint 131 racing/sport and have enough left over to take your wife/fiance/mistress/girlfriend or in these politically correct days boyfriend on a decent holiday!! Work that out  ::)

Wonderful! I love this car. Fiat 130 coupe is a wonderful example of italian design. Were all those from Italy? If so is a bit a pity that all original documents and plates were lost, but if there was no other way....

The plates would of gone when they were de-registered and taken off the road years ago, but we have most of the original owners log books  ;D

Thanks for the pictures and write ups Graham.

The 130 interior is a peach and has escaped the damage of the Italian sun. So many of these burnt orange interiors fade badly. Nice find.  :)

Square lights and the 4 (extra) dials  - 1300E / GT ?  The 4 door must have been a rare find in that configuration...

Sorry if it sounds like I'm mean to the Essex boys...I've lived all over but...originally...I am an Essex boy ;)

1100Xl built in Germany in 72 for the Italian market, according to Ford UK. Its all the little clocks that i like myself not much bigger than an old penny, maybe thats what they used to draw the circles back then before computers took over . Simple life  ;D

Finally got a chance today to start on the 131. To hot to pull it right outside to take the pics as i was on my own and pushing a bloody great 4 wheel trailer thats in the way about on your own is no fun. Anyway, have attached some pics, mainly of the interior as thats what people have asked about most. In some the light makes it look more grey but it is the blue you can see best on the door trims? And yes there is NO rust round the sun roof apperture or the roof panel itself  :o
This is exactly as it was delivered, not even had a wipe over yet, but she runs as sweet as the day she was built and everything works, even the time clock. Un-frortunately the original stereo has been removed at some time and the front door mounted speakers, so if anyone has a pair of speaker grills or an origanal stereo let me know. Cheers. G

Aye, she's a cutie. Was worried the first time i got hold off the sun roof release handle and pulled it, after so many years of in-op was not sure what to expect? But no it dropped and slid perfectly. If you look closely there is still what looks like original factory grease on the sliders.G
