Title: Radiator fan switch removal advice
Post by: Crazypierre on September 23, 2017, 03:44:25 PM
Hi,
Hope all's well in Mirafiori Land!
Finally got round to replacing my original but leaky radiator on my 1979 131.
But try as I might, the fan switch at the bottom of it just won't unscrew. I soaked it in oil, applied a little heat with a butane gas blow torch, but nothing.
All that happens is the soft brass bottom tank starts to bend.
Any tips on how to remove the little blighter?
Don't really want to destroy the bottom tank in case I ever need to get it recored.
Thanks
Pete

just get a new fan switch and let the original at his place. They are easily available, but be careful and buy the right one, because there exist more than one variants which differ by the temperature of engagement.

Hi, Yes I think that's what I'll have to do.
Does anyone know the part number for a 1300cc OHV engine or part manufacturer?
Thanks
Peter

Hi,
Managed to get the part number from my local motor factor who didn't have the part. Then I searched ebay and got one delivered for £6.50!  Hopefully fitting the rad this weekend.
Happy days.
