Title: Series 2...now with pics
Post by: mick131 on June 04, 2018, 12:07:54 PM
Am considering selling my Series 2 Super and would like a bit of advice as to it's current approximate value.

It was first registered on 27th April 1981 and is a rhd, in yellow with a factory fitted metal sunroof.
The interior is beige and has worn pretty well, if a little grubby on the drivers seat.

V5 shows 7 former keepers but I had it, sold it to Wayne and then bought it back so only 5 really.

Current mileage is 55280. Mot at 17th May 2006 shows mileage logged as 51970, so seems to indicate it is genuine.

Mechanics - It requires work on the braking system as it's been stood a while and has an imbalance on the rear and also a binding offside rear brake. There is also an earthing/elelctrical issue as when the dipped beam is on it affects the operation of the rear lights. It also needs a right hand drive nsf headlight as the one fitted is a lhd version.

Bodywork - It does require a respray and some welding. At some time in the past it has had some welding to the floor between chassis and sill and also to the front chassis at the bulkhead ( I think ).

The doors are in a reasonable structural condition but the fronts require skins or new doors. I have some good ones off the Maltese one I sold to RSD a while back and would let them go at extra cost.

I have a set of front chassis legs ( from front panel to the mid floor ) front panel, rear arch repair panels for both sides, two new front wings, NOS nearside rear wing, NOS bonnet and maybe rear panel and a couple of skins for the front doors but would have to check. And poss a scuttle panel from Yagmur and scuttle corners.

The above spares would probably go with the car so have listed them here anyway as would like a value as a package.

So if anyone would like to offer an opinion it would be much appreciated.

Cheers
Mick.

Hi Mick

Have you anything to support the mileage of 51,000 in 2006 being genuine.

Cant remember if there where any old mot's with the car when I got it. I've asked Wayne if he has kept any from his time with it.

I do recall being told by the garage that the old girl who owned it used to send it to them to be maintained and they did so over a number of years. She asked them to take the car in when her husband passed away and it didn't move until I got it.

The last tax disc in the windscreen expired on 30/09/86 and the garage also told me that before the husband passed, they used to travel across Europe on a regular basis. There are a number of badges on the old grill to support this and I think that's where all the miles came from.

Hi Mick

Thanks for the information regarding the history of the vehicle. Whilst in my eyes a RHD 1981 Supermirafiori (especially when finished in Yellow) is the peppermint cream of cars unfortunately on this occasion i’m going to have to pass. Reasoning being is that although i’m sure it has the makings of a great car, I don’t have the time to devote in undertaking / arranging the work that the car needs.

The work would also include (for my preference at least) the conversion to manual transmission. Best of luck with the sale and incidentally have you received any feedback as regards likely values.

No worries Rob, was only trying to get an idea really. Not had any advice as such re value no but not to worry.

My imminent, or so I thought, house move seems to have fallen through so I might be able to have a bit of cash available to get some work done on her  ;D

Cheers
Mick.
