Title: Reluctant sale..
Post by: mick131 on October 27, 2018, 09:46:53 AM
Hi all,

After the birth of my son and after much debating, I have come to the conclusion that I'll not get any time to work on the Fiat for many a year to come so have sadly decided to offer her up for sale. It kills me to say it but can't see any other option at the moment. My enthusiasm is as strong as ever but the little man is my priority now. I would rather everything go at once as I wouldn't want anything hanging around that might make me regret any possible sale.

It's a genuine UK car registered in October 1977 and has been owned by me since June 1987. It's in my name and I also have the V5. It's been dry stored and off road for many a year.

As you can see, the car was going to be fitted with a group 4 kit, independent rear suspension, Volumex engine and a roll cage.

The shell is structurally very very good. Most of the rust that was present was removed years ago and the only remaining area of rust sits in the box section on top of the front inner wings. The car can be put back to standard if desired as it's not been modified too much as it stands right now and any areas that have been modified can be returned to standard with the parts I have. The doors are also in good condition with the frames being very solid but they have been repaired previously at the bottom and in the drivers door case, at the top by the quarter light. There are, I think, somewhere, a couple of front door skins. I also have a fire damaged door that could be salvageable it correctly rust treated.

There are some spares available if desired, mainly body panels, such as a roof skin, front inner wings with chassis legs, windscreen surround, new windscreen, A post repair kit, rear chassis legs, rear panel ( series 1 ), boot floor, rear inner arches ( the parts that are attached to the strut towers ), series 1 boot lid, door skins and possibly floor pans . I also have some new old stock front grills and new old stock front and rear lights. There are other mechanical items as well including a Volumex engine including charger, a disc braked LSD axle, Leda adjustable coilovers, 4 x 8" x 15" BWA Alfa alloys, two gearboxes with Abarth extensions, spare Abarth extension, gearbox layshaft, rear diff bearings, wheel spacers ( I think are 20mm ) and probably other stuff I've forgotten about.

There is also a roll over jig that I've made available as well. It does need a little bit of work but 90% complete.

I'll listen to any sensible offers for specific items but any offers would have to be worth me splitting them from the car, as they might affect the possible sale of it. As for price, a handful of the parts alone are worth over £2000

The attached pictures are not current, as I can't get access to it at the moment but they are a true reflection of current condition. This a genuine sale and the description above is as accurate as I can be without it being sat in front of me.

Please be aware that I work odd days/shifts on top of having a 5 month old to look after and don't always get time to get to my computer.

Firstly congratulations on becoming a dad. Sorry about the car sale think you've been doing yours nearly as long as me and mine. Lol. Hope you find a buyer for decent money they seem to be flavour of the month at the moment. Regards Barry.

Hello Mick
it's sad to sell your car after all this work, I do not have children but I understand what this represents ...
good luck with the sale,

I have a question in PM

Lock the garage, forget about it then in 10-20 years time when it's worth even more either sell it or finish it when the little one is older. If you sell it you'll probably never buy another.

That would be my advice  :)

Thanks Barry ;)

Simon, it is sad that I feel there is no alternative at present. Wish there was..

Dave, have just moved house and don't have a garage at the moment hence the idea of selling it. Both this car and the Super are in storage but they can't stay there for much longer and I only really have the room to build a garage for one car.

Congrats Mick

and remember, the only reason we took the 131 is that we needed a second car to bring the kids to kindergarten. That is over 20 years ago now...

This is still for sale at the right price. I'll listen to any serious offers.

Thanks
Mick.
