The following question I wanna launch: Can you tell me in which colours the interiortowels as fitted new on the frontchairs of the Racing/Sport were available.  I have dark grey examples for 1 car and saw once a white example. Other question, are this towels all woven with FIAT Racing or are there also Sport versions?

Hi Albert - I think that these towels were very rare - As you know they were shown in some Fiat publicity material but I never saw one in real life until I bought my car in Germany last year when it had a white one fitted (just one).

I have never seen a grey one until now, but co-incidentally I have dyed my one dark grey as the white one is too obvious! It says Racing and not Sport.

I can not decide if this was an option or a standard feature on European cars - It certainly was NOT standard in Ireland and I would say the same about the UK market.

I dont know for certain but I would guess that it only came with "Racing".

I agree with you Kev. I've only ever seen them with racing woven into them.

Two grey ones came with my car when i bought it and there were two in the orange 1 owner car (HDU 778V) which i sold to Rob from the strada forum a couple of years ago but they were both knackered.
I was going to fit both to my car but the rubber bands have both perished and split in two.
I've forgotten how to fit them anyway! Roll Eyes Maybe you can remind me Kev? Smiley
I'll have to see if i can get some more rubber bands made up some where.

Wayne.

Hi Wayne - welcome back to the site by the way - Your expertise has been missed.

You surprise me when you say that you had 2 UK cars with the towels fitted - I'd never ever seen them until I bought my car.

My rubbers have broken too so I've just bought some S brackets to hook in to the holes. They are not the best though as the towels need to be able to move with your body and the stretchiness provided by the rubber is gone. Fitting? The top is easy using the head rest studs. Lay the towel in place? on the seats and then for the rest place the metal bar on top of the towel before pushing it between the base and the back rest - Run the rubbers under the seat base and attach them from the bar to the holes at the front of the towel (nearest the foot well).

Cheers for the welcome back Kev.
I've been doing a lot of browsing lately, trying to catch up on all that i've missed over the 10 months or so!
I'll get the towels fitted later on.Thanks for the fitting instructions. Cool

I put my towels in the washing machine as soon as i got them and the eyelets started ripping out of them!
Most people must've thrown them away, maybe due to eyelets dropping out in the wash,i dont know. Grin

I think you'll only find them in cars which the die hard fans have owned.

I bought Robs car from the fiat main dealer at warwick which was where it was originally sold to its first owner and after some 24 years or so it was returned there!
It was serviced all of its life at the same garage at warwick too,so there was always the chance everything was going to be in its rightfull place.

I've been lucky enough that my car's been owned by enthusiasts all of its life too,so the same goes for that as well. Smiley?

They told me the towels were delivered on every new car but are taken out by most dealers immediately. For own collection or... Like most Alfa 90s don't have the little suitcase which is in the dashboard, all are gone too. Yeah, and the latest cars are already almost 25 years old, so the towels are used for polishing long ago, broke through washing to often etc. But I still hope to find a white set!
