Ineptitude suffers starter problems

Hello to all from Bruges, Belgium! The Ineptitude runs good, however I seem to have a bad hand for starters. The first starter (Bosch) had solenoid problems. The second (Marelli) had solenoid problems. The third, a refurbished Bosch starter, has...

yes, you got it. Hot start problems caused by, I fear, the solenoid. She will start when cold, no problem; however, during 3MA I might need help by some of you to give the car a push-start if the starter won't work

Or you can just start it when hot by knocking it with a jack or a hummer Thats what I do!

yes, Panagiotis, I know this remedy  however, with twin carbs the space is very limited to give the solenoid a knock. Best thing would be to take out the starter again, remove the solenoid, clean it using very fine grained 1000 sand paper, put a film of engine oil on the parts, reassemble and reinstall. Will work perfectly from then on. However, not your work of choice when on the road

I think that this problem is caused by high temperatures. That's why the button get stuck. You can try and protect your starter with some heat preventing material.

Don't worry about your starter Robert. I have no doubt that with the collective skills and tools available at the Passage House Hotel in Kingsteignton, it will be removed and overhauled before dinner tonight
