As a small episode on the "Trip home" I spent some time travelling in convoy with a pair of German classics.

Both were from the early 70s (or possibly the 60s) and must have been in fine mechanical condition as they came up behind me doing around 100 mph. The saloon is an Opel Diplomat in a really striking shade of metallic Green - It looked very original and (as much as one can tell at those speeds) totally mint. I'd never seen one before but it certainly gave the impression of an early "bahnstormer"! Beautiful car.
His tailgunner was an early 911 (with a cool reg no). Both waved and tooted a fellow classic car user as they passed.

Beautiful cars, always nice to see great classics. The Diplomat could have been the standard 2.8 6cylinder or even the quite rare 5.4 V8. This one looks exceptional good.
This kind of registrations are quite common in Germany. The first part of the licenseplate shows where you are from, the rest is free if available. The H is specific for classics over 30 years( ask for more details Rene!)
So when Simon should live in Berlin and the plate should be available his number could be B-MW 530
Or when you move house to Colgne(K?ln) you could have registration
