Hmmmm - Not happy viewing 30 years later when we're looking for good examples of these cars - I wonder what happened to the rows of crashed cars as shown early in the film.  Angry

Well, these crash tests saved a life of my friend last October.

So do not think it was a waste !

I would suggest that you reserve this feeling for all those that destroy these car without any higher purpose or it put it simply: thoughtlessly.

The accident was during a Zubry Rally at ca 80 km/h. Both driver and co -driver suffered NO HARM AT ALL !!!

I typically do not trust the current tests as they seem to be rigged ( the design is geared to get max points by tuning design to actual measurement method- not safety. so that one brand camn claim to be the safest  Bull !

Quite surprised that Strada and Chevy Chevette  were singles out as passing the tests, but I can now vouch for Strada . It  seems to be surprisingly resilient and quite protective of the passengers .

See this !

i never said that there's no purpose in crash tests.
those smashed 132's were responsible for saving my ass at least twice. as i said in some older posts, i smashed up my 132 quite badly on ice once and got rear ended by mk2 golf doing around 70km/h the other time. i was unharmed mostly due to clever construction. first time thanks to side impact bars in the doors and second time by good design of seats and headrests.
i just whish i could lay my hands on two or three of those smashed brand new 132s

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y7vvFlB9Bvc&feature=related
i've contaced the owner, there's still some cars unsold, he promised to send me a list of what's left. if i counted correctly, there's
3 132s
2 131s
4 ritmos
1 850sc
many others...
all brand new, never registered. i believe that you'd know how to solve the legal issues about registering those cars. i certanly would.

djape,

We can get the registered in Poland no problem !

Under Polish law a car like that does not require prior registration just a written declaration of the current owner saying that he id the current legal owner.

This allows to register the cars on yellow vintage vehicle plates.

You get them to me I get them all registered!

Miro

PS: think about it seriously

i am thinking about it seriously, especially since i know how much it would cost to restore my 132 and 850sc.
fortunately, i have no problems with registering such cars here. all i need is to have such car in my possesion and i can import a "spares" car.
