Still having problems with the ignition timing. Can any one tell me, which way round does the distributor go? Does the LT lead come out on the engine block side or the other side?

Problem solved? Grin

Don't ask me why but the cap is numbered 1-6, when we set the static timing (No 1 firing) it would not run. My Father (ex mechanic still knows his stuff it appears) tried swapping leads around diagonally, it started and runs fine.? Huh Number 1 is now number 5 and so on. Work that one out!

If you or someone else have removed and re-installed the distributor they have got it 180 degrees out of phase. I did that with my 131 once (must have been having an off day  Undecided ) and in persistently trying to start it, I managed to get it to backfire through the carburettors and set the air filter alight!  Shocked
