Hi
Picked up my 131 yesterday. Steering seemed incredibly stiff.......
Checked the tyre pressures and they're about 22psi. I think that's the reason......
Does anyone know what they should be for 165/13 tyres?
(Car came without owner's manual...)
Thanks

Hi,

At a guess I weould say about 26 to 28 should do it, I don't have a manual to hand at the mo. For the record I usually put 30 PSI in all the tyres of all my cars! Pictures please we need to see this new 131 in our ranks!

The Haynes manual is quoting 25lb all round for a saloon, and for an estate 25 front & 31 rear.
For what it's worth I usually stick to about 28 all round.

Hi Phil and Mirafioriman
Thanks for that. I put 30psi in earlier and took it for a test drive. Makes all the difference and now the steering is fine! I took it on a few fast roads to blow the cobwebs out. (My 85 year old aunt I got it from had it from new and I don't think she ever went over 30mph in it. I can't belive how much fun this little car is to drive compared to the other more modern cars I drive. You have to really thrash the little 65hp pushrod engine to get anything out of her though! (I am used to an Alfa 156 V6 with nearly 200hp, a Volvo 960 straight 6 , 3 litre and ?BMW 520 with 177hp, but I've not had so much fun in ages.)
I'm sure I'll need loads of tips and hints from you guys in due course.
Pics to follow.
Cheers
Pete
