Heres a 105TC series 2.

It had Delta-esque alloys and a small high level spoiler...

And here is a pic of the 125TC.

Sadly no pics available of the 170TC(2lt 16V), only one car completed by Abarth as a test mule and cancelled by Fiat chiefs...again? Roll Eyes

Yes Theo,

The series 2 105TC was not a common sight in the UK, I think most people went for the 2.0L 130TC at the time and the 1.6L 105TC got left behind in the showrooms....a bit like the Stilo a few years later  Cheesy

I first discovered the series 2 car when my old friend Ian Pearce worked on a silver one at his garage.

It was a halfway design between the 85CL and 130TC, no bucket seats, no Abarth steering wheel but it had the same Veglia instruments as the 130TC.
Under the bonnet it looked the same as the series1 car, including the front suspension which was not as 'beefed up' as it was on the 130TC.

As far as I know there are no surviving pics of the 170TC 'mule'.

It was developed and dropped during the Lancia Racing period of Abarths history, probably due to percieved product clash between it and the Lancia range that Fiats bosses were more in favour of at the time....131 Volumetrico all over again  Huh

Little is recorded about the 170TC but it is known that it used the 16V 037 type engine but without supercharging, whether this was fuel injected or carburetted is as far as I'm aware not known.

Shame....another missed oppertunity by the big chiefs  Undecided

For my part I was aware of the series 2 105TC - Agree they were rare - I went to see one for sale in Cornwall years ago and I felt that there was something wrong but couldn't immediately put my finger on it - Turned to be a cut & shut - Series 1 front end, series 2 rear end and a clear visible welding across the middle of the roof!! Huh Roll Eyes I made my excuses and left pronto.

Amazed to hear that there was a 170TC - Now that sounds a mighty beast!

Just one small point Graham - Was there actually a Ritmo/Strada 85CL? I thought that all the 85s were Supers? They were certainly made in series 1 (1500cc with 82 bhp - same engine as Regata 85) and think that they became the Ritmo100S in the series 2? fitted with a 1600TC engine.

Kev,

I can remember my friends old series 2 car and I'm sure it was an 85CL...maybe it was a Super but its 20yrs since we ran around the streets in it  Shocked.

I was refering to the outer appearance and trim when I made the comparison.

Theres nothing much on the net about the 170TC, like I said it seems to have been a dead end project that time has forgot.
