Rear boot spoiler

OK guys, I think it was Thotos who said somebody might have one of these rear boot spoilers for sale. Anybody got one for sale?

Posting it to the USA is likely to cost a fair bit (they are heavier than you think) so I'd say if you are going to get one from Europe then you should try and get a new one or an 'as new' condition. They often appear on ebay so try looking at international sales on ebay.

I'll find the ones I have over the holidays and take some pictures and remind me of the problems; I seem to remember that one had some of the the studs broken in the holes and the other had a small cut in the corner...

There is a guy in Australia who has a NOS spoiler but the spoiler plus shipping is over $US 300. So I'm debating on wheather to buy it.? Is it something I could live without?

Since my car is not a concours winner anyway, I'd rather someone who has a much better car than mine use one that is in perfect condition.

What are these spoilers made of? Fiberglass? I thought they were made of rubber.

There is not much demand for 131 parts over here but one way to offset the cost is to make a copy of it and sell it to some other 131 owners I know.

I would be interested in one of your spoilers.  Send me some pics when you get a chance. How much do you want for it?

You can certainly live without a rear spoiler and I wouldn't pay $300 for one. You are right that they are made of rubber, a water absorbing spongy rubber that will rust your boot (trunk?) lid in no time and give you many concussions as the boot lid will forever be falling on your head when you put things in the boot (trunk).

They are heavy things and I suspect a large amount of the $300 is for posting? I would think posting one from the UK to the USA will be very expensive. Below is a photo of one of the two I have. I can't really get to it unless I get the 131 out of the garage and to do that I need to move the Gamma which is outside the garage but unfortunately the Gamma is in no condition to move at the moment! The one in the photo looks OK but I suspect it's the one that's had the studs broken in the holes so unless they can be taken out it will be a bit difficult to fit it to the car. I have another but it's in my "spares garage" and I haven't managed to go and search for it. Once I manage to do that or move the 131 to get to the one in the photo I'll check the condition more carefully and get back to you.

Fiberglass would be prefered over the rubber one. I've been to this guy's website before and noticed he had a fiberglass boot lid with the spoiler made into it but didn't think he sold just the spoiler. 100 Euros is about $130 so that's better than what the guy in Australia wants for a new old stock rubber unit.
