Greetings one and all. Just last week I bought a 75 131s with a 1.8 twin...10:1 pistons <so the man told me> and a larger than stock weber carb, 5 speed for $300 us. Right here in my lil home town of less than 800 people out here in west texas. My wife and I decided to call it Fugly as it's f'n ugly. This car was last plated in 1998. I had to drain the REALLY nasty old fuel out of the tank.....pull the sending unit and clean the brass strainer and fuel line. He had been running the car on a small plastic fuel tank in the trunk.....sweet. I'm sure  I'll have LOTS of questions as I go along here. My father and I both have had 850's in the past. He raced a 850 in the SCCA years ago.

ok.....now I get in the car, turn the key on and the fuel gauge comes up a bit.....I start the car...it seems to go back down...having said this I also have not filled the tank yet..just 1-2 gallons that I had here at the lil ranch.

SLOW wipers......very slow....looking for bad grounds <earths> is there a pod under the dash? if so....where....I see the one in the left front in the engine bay.

I have boxes and boxes of spare new/used parts that came with this car as well...one of the reasons I decided to buy it.

I do have a problem with the turn signal indicator in the dash cluster....I did change the bulb with a known good one...no joy.
The turn signals didnt work well at fist..they all work now...tho they are slow. Again grounding?

Oh the guy also told me that the front swaybar had been replaced with one off of a stationwagon...stiffer bar I assume.

More as I go..ya know...it was 105f here today....131 with AC would be a nice thing!!

pic's will come soon....it's NOT pretty...it's brown...another note the man I bought it from was a preacher, ham radio nut, he bought it new in Canada from what he told me.
Another question. In the LARGE pile of parts that came with the car I have two axle shafts. The are two different sizes...meaning one is bigger around than the other....this normal or do I have to shafts out of two different rear ends? Will look for part #'s later today.

It is rather fun to drive....I live down a long gravel/sand road out here at the lil ranch....drifting sideways around corners the car seems right at home with enough power to come out of the corner well Smiley Maybe I'll get the wife to take a pic of that later!

lets see...
you seem to have a usable example of it's kind there...

needs a paintjob, euro spec bumpers and some nice wheels to look decent.

engine is a prime candidate for twin webbers.

ok Fugly is on the road all legal like and stuff.
The Fuel gauge does work........kinda....it seems to work, but then it will go to e.....then back up....still thinking a grounding problem.
Also I have a noise in the rear end....sounds like a axle bearing, will look into that later in the week.
70 mph it's running about 4,000 rpm....sound about right?
it's 95-100 here today the car was running about 190 on the gauge.....the radiator has been re-cored with a thicker core..

I didnt steal it....but the lady at the tax office asked what I paid for it...I told her...she told me that whatever comes up as value on her computer means thats what I have to pay....I say ok......she typed it in.....it told her NO VALUE....so I says sweet....no taxes then......she says....thank you very much for playing....that will be 101.53....well hell....this was after she had told me that my V.I.N. # didn't have enough digits....I said would you like me to add some for ya?  And by the way it's a 1975...she said.....oh

The lady at the insurance office asked me....how do you spell fiat....I say.....F..I..A..T....she says thats it?.....I say F...I...A...T.....thats it. Next the asked me....does it have more that 3 wheels? I say yes it has 5 including the spare.

<shakes head>
