You could start with some parts from an Autobianchi A112 Abarth. This engine delivers 70 bhp. Or find yourself a complete engine. It's a 1050 cc. Only need to change the cam, i believe, because it turns the other way around. Could be wrong about this though. Anyone?

you also would need to change the pistons since pin is not in the centre and turning the wrong way around would make all sorts of problems.

would you be interested in a 850cc engine from zastava 850? it turns the right way around. stock engine is 35bhp and tuned versions are routinely seen racing with around 70bhp

600 engine rotates in conventional clockwise direction as per 127, Autobianchi etc. It is 850 engines that rotate counterclockwise.

Then Autobianchi Abarth engine is a good one to start with.

hello!!!

so sorry but fiat 600, fiat 127, a112 rotates all to the same direction.

to modify a fiat 600 engine the fast and cheap way is fit a fiat panda, seat marbella engine (for panda only use engine without headcamshaft)are very easy to find but not the best performances

then you need to modify the flywheel fot use the starter from fiat 600

you need to use luk clutch set (the pressure plate is the small to avoid problems with the gearbox bell housing)

you also need to blend out the aluminum head for the starter (interference with flywheel)

and to finish you need to install abushing between crankshaft and gearbox's primary shaft

this is only for the engine...

if you need more info i made pieces and modifications for fiat600 abarth replicas in spain, you can contact at:
fiat600abarth@hotmail.es

best regrads

Yes as per most things with the 850 it was always just a bit different for differents sake.

Fiat went back to normal rotation on the pushrod engine after the 850.

You can use the 1050 Autobianchi engine, the 903 from the 127/Panda and if your lucky the 965 engine from the Panda 4x4 (yes the early 4wd cars had a slightly bigger capacity).

You will need a spacer bush on the crank end to make it work with the 600 transaxle and you will find the standard 600 gearing and final drive very lacklustre so try to obtain the multipla gearset with the better crownwheel & pinion.

I played around with a number of different combinations when I built my old 1000TC replica.

Sorry Fede, just seen your post... yes the starter casing does hit the flywheel too

Oh yes, you will need to 'beef up' the drive shafts and cushion couplings..... the standard ones chew up real quick when you have tuned the engine.

I used a set of Ford couplings (Hardy Spicer union) at the hub end, the transaxle was genuine abarth 5spd so had the bolted flange fittings not the 600 'peg in slot'.

Good luck anyway, they're a blast when tuned up  Cheesy Grin Cheesy

hello!!

i'm agree, the clutch luk have a litlle interference with the hub but not so much.

in my fiat 600 abarth replica i use a a112 abarth engine with high compression pistons, pbs head, weber 40 dcoe (x2) multy spark ignition system, 360 degrees cams, flywhell new release (i build using 600 and a112 dimensions) reinforces ceramic clutch (hand made, but professional finish!!) gearbox straight gears close ratio (i build) quick steering system (i build) front independen suspension (i build) double homocinetic transmission axles (i build) 4 disc brakes.....and now i try to fit all in a small fiat.

this is too much work/money/time to a show/mulleto car

this is one of the reasons to build a 131 replica (is too much easy!!!!)

the best is save money and fit any of the normal engines 127, a112 junior, panda (4x4 i don't know if is easy to fit, but sure that is possible too) and then a good transmission axles (one homocinetic is enough)

i hope that this can help to someone.

best regards
