When the Sport was first launched the motoring press raved about the Pirelli P6 tyre in 185/60/14 size.

A set of 5 of these tyres arrived from Germany on Friday and the car is now rolling on these and the new 14 inch wheels.

I cant make my mind up about the chrome rings though - Too blingy or not...?  Smiley

Looks good, Kev. But my opinion is that they don't stand out much on these rims. If the rims would be dark colored it would be better.

I have a question for you. Why don't you put on the Californian mirrors? I know looking into those mirrors isn't easy, but they belong to the car  Smiley

Never liked the dark colours Mike.

I had the original mirrors fitted but they were too loose. I put the larger ones back on for 3MA11 as a temporary measure before finding a better solution.  Smiley

I know, Kev. But if the rims would be the other way around then the rings would stand out more. I mean, black tire, silver ring, black rim (with silver cloverleaf). I guess i'm not much of help here for you to make a choice about the rings  Cheesy Cheesy Wink

So you still have the sport mirrors?

The California mirrors, or to be precise the original Fiat Mirafiori Sport/Racing mirrors which are unique to the car and have a different base to the 'standard' California mirrors are held on their base with a long screw that goes through a large hole on the front of the base and screws to the back of the base. The head of the screw simply acts as a pivot within the large front hole in the base and the mirror is held in place by being pressed onto the back of the base. To stop the mirrors from being too loose and dropping, a special spring washer was added to the front of the mirror with two tiny 'teeth' that hold onto the mirror plastic and stop it from moving. With age these spring washers loose their springiness and their teeth and nothing holds the mirror in place so they simply drop when going over a bump. In fact in your case Kevin the spring washers might be missing. I found that an excellent replacement is a crinkle washer under the screw head and a drop of loctite on the screw before screwing it tight.  The loctite stops the screw from undoing itself and the teeth of the crinkle washer hold onto the mirror plastic well. Bring your mirrors to 3ma11 Kevin and I'll sort them out for you.

I am sorry to admit that I too prefer the gunmetal dark wheels on the orange 131 Sports.

About the rings they don't look bad on the wheels (since the wheels are silver) but they would look better in the gun metal grey ones Wink

Here is the car before ...with the gunmetal coloured wheels with chrome whel rings. Not too bad but I much prefer the new look wheels - with or without the chrome rings.

Of course I also have a set of these which may yet go on if I get tired of the new look. However they are 13s which means no P6 tyres.

Thanks for the mirror suggestion Theo - I felt sure there was a key component missing.  Smiley

Personally I prefer the look with the darker wheels, but as it is your car what is right is what looks best to you Wink

My alloys are 14" and would suit your lovely new Pirelli P6s Smiley
