About 15months ago a saw an add which stated,1981 fiat131 ,1300cc,10,000miles from new.I rang and the vendor told me that the car had been bought new in 1981,sadly the owner passed away shortly after his purchase and the car was then pushed in to a barn for the next 24years.At this time a member of the famaily decided to get the car up and running. This he did,and took it to a local paintshop in Mallow ,Co.Cork.The car was repainted as it had faded from light yellow to almost white and remained outside the shop for the next 2 months until some gobsh***e  throws a lit match on to the rear seat which immediately set an  as new interior alight.Lucky the local fire fighters were passing and  put out the fire, what a piece of luck!I went to see the car and with checkbook on hip and curiosity running wild,I was surprised to see  that damage was not that bad! I bought the car and with the help of two doner cars and a set of seats from professor Kennedy,we now had everything to put the car back together. This took six men almost two days. The roof liner proving difficult, everything else was fine. The car also got , a new exhaust, ignition, door locks, full service, callipers, a set of cromadoras, brake pipes, and several other bits i cant remember now.The old girl now looks very pretty indeed and i will post pics soon.bye for now.....more later....BK.

Hi BK

At one stage I was half expecting you to arrive in Killarney in this car - I didnt realise that it was not finished until recently. In the end we had Enda in the green CL.

Yes please pictures - Of what is quite a rare thing nowadays - A genuine Irish Fiat 131 still in working order. Wink
