Gone (back in the day) but never forgotten

« Reply #4 on: November 02, 2012, 08:14:07 AM »

Brilliant pics! Its great digging out the old film camera pics isn't it, they really are a treasure trove IMHO
I also love the old Mirafiori range/Fiat range etc brochure shots, they have such an air of excitement and optimism about them don't they. Dreaming of a new car and how it would be using it everyday.
(don't think i will be at any posh hotels or getting into a Leer Jet tho Grin)
i often wonder how many non-Fiat enthusiasts innocently took pics around their cars back in the day..doin their lifestyle-stuff..and have them tucked away now, gathering dust for us never to see!
Guess we'll never know  Undecided
All the more reason we should continue to hunt through our own archives for the benefit of all to see  Wink
Great pics Theo... love those old Fiats!
Any more?  Grin

Some great memories there Theo!  Cool Frank Church's old Sport (YBM) and EVW too - excellent!

I love the pic of the two Stradales as well - excellent. I would say that pic was taken around the year 2000 as Jonathan Sage's red Stradale (BLE) was still pretty much standard - that's him in the foreground with the jumper thrown over his shoulder  Wink Don't know what happened to the blue one - not sure it was ever registered on UK plates.

The other pics of Brooklands show just how the event has developed to that of today. There's lots more space on the banking in those days. Cool

I remember those FMC meets at Battersea Park - such memories. Smiley Where have the years gone Huh Makes me feel old if I think about it for too long - so I won't! Grin Grin

Yes, loads but I need to get them out of the albums (or shoe boxes!) and scan them. For now my other 'new found' photographs are getting into "Gamma years" (post 1996) and I don't think there's much interest in those here  Smiley

Mid to late '90s were my quiet years in terms of active involvement with Classic Car Clubs. The FTCR (as was) was taken over in an aggressive coup by a certain Martin Thomas and IMHO has never recovered. Cry After I left the FMC Committee in about 1996 I stayed away and let others get on with it - which was a great shame to me personnally as I'd put my heart and soul into running that Club since about 1987  Cry

Oh well - change is inevitable I suppose - at least I still have the 131mirafiori Forum! Wink

Keep the old pics coming. I'll see if I can find some over the weekend. Grin Cool
