I was taken out for a good drive in 79 KZO today Grin it?s a very fast 131 Racing & the LSD is some job. A few photo?s taken today Smiley

You great big fecker. How did u manage that?

Fantastic   Kiss  although IMHO, I'd lose the rear screen grid.  Undecided Knocks the whole car out for me.
He should organise paid tours of the car.

Now lads the rear window louvre was on this Racing 30 years ago when the guy that fully rebuild every nut and bolt on it first seen 79 KZO parked in his local town in 1983 Smiley so it was always going to be on this Racing when it was fully rebuild (same louvre in the photo's when it was rotten but it was silver)

The louvre's only sit on the rear window and can be removed in minutes so can the clock and badges, it's his car he rebuild every nut and bolt on it and can put what ever he wants on it !

I am very fussy when it come to rust, poor repairs and isopon on the body on a 131, I have never seen a rebuild like the job that has been done on this 131 Racing.

I have seen 131's that have not been rebuilt to the standard of this Racing and they have not had any Negative comments why is that ?

You are dead right. It's very rare that one would see such a transformation from what it was to what it is now. I think everyone would be in agreement that it really is astonishing, could easily sit in the Fiat museum and humble any other car that that may be in there. TBH, I don't know how he has even done it. It's a work of genius and pure dedication.

Re the louvre, it is my humble opinion that it takes away from the look of the car. Does my bum look big in this? I assume it was originally something like a Halfords aftermarket accessory and not a Fiat factory fit? If so, I'll stand corrected.  If it wasn't on it when it left the factory, I personally wouldn't have put it back on during the rebuild. It draws too much attention away from the rest of the beauty.

Maybe his first sight of a 131 sport all those years ago had a louvre on it so that's what he is re-creating. If that's the case, then may the force be with him. I wouldn't say they weren't negative comments generally but more constructive criticism is order to maintain perfection personified. Just my 2c worth.

PS - Why did it originally have a diesel hump on the bonnet?

I have heard of a few 131 Racing's that had the diesel bonnet fitted new or nearly in Ireland, 79 KZO and 2 others, I have a friend that worked in a Fiat dealer back in the day and a customer that had ordered a new Racing had to have it fitted with a diesel bonnet Smiley I am sure they were more fitted with them back in the day in Ireland, to make their 131 Racing look more Racing Grin

I was fortunate enough to have had the privilege to not only see this masterpiece last Saturday but got the chance to SIT in it as well.
If it was mine, I wouldn't even let ME in to it.

I ended up with the head staggers and a nose bleed from shaking my head so much in dis-belief. Couldn't take my eyes off it. I pinched myself to make sure I wasn't dreaming.

Besides the perfection of the finished product, I am just as much gobsmacked not only by the level of detail gone in to the restoration (every nut and bolt)
but also by the amount of time, energy, dedication and commitment that obviously went in to it since first acquiring the car. I'm sure there is probably some gold plating protecting some part of it unseen by the casual observer.  Tongue

Unfortunately he had his highly trained guard dog watching over the car (Christopher) so I couldn't kidnap (or should that be carnap) and make off with it.
If I manage to win the lottery at any stage, I'll hire some burglar and make use of his services. :-)

Thanks to Chris and Nick for allowing me the opportunity and all I can say is a tug of the forelock to Nick for what he has achieved.  Cool

And I've placed an order for one for me.
