Not so bad then, a 175bhp would be good, I thought it was a merc 200 lump from a later model with turbo which would have been crap. God I hate the german rubbish.

Sir,

I took the liberty of reporting your insult to the moderators. Please think twice about calling us Germans rubbish!

Still this is very unpolite (to put it mildly). Maybe appropriate for the pub when talking to your cronies, but not on an official board that is also read and fed by us damned Krauts. Who, by the way, happen to manufacture the finest pieces of automobiles worldwide (and owning Englands pride RR & Bentley...)

And, if you cannot distinguish a Japanese engine from a Mercedes engine: Talk about things you DO understand.

I think you are taking this a bit seriously and I have been a mechanic for over 32 years and have driven virtually every type of car and have not driven a german car I would give drive space to.

YES, I am taking this seriously. We call it national pride. You do have the same, AFAIK. I would NEVER ever write something insulting about other nations - and I expect the same respect shown to my country, its people and its commodities that I do show for other nations.

By the way, I do speak your language fairly well (I assume your command of my language is nil), and I can see what's meant as a joke and what is just contempt. The way you write about German engineering speaks the latter, and this is why I am taking this seriously.

No you really do need to get out more ! I was not insulting the german nation !  just expressing my personal opinion about german cars such as bmw's and merc's which I find dull and boring to drive and I speak from experience as I drive them every day during my work.
