Fiat power No mercy !!!

« Reply #15 on: May 21, 2014, 07:33:38 PM »

Hi guys!
Thanks for all comments, its been hard to do business with the guy, i had to increase my bid a bit, just wait and see what's happened!

All 82-83 131 in Sweden had sunroof as standard, i don't know why but they have it!

DOHC 131: when the deal is done, i have to solve the transport 450km one way, i have no car with tow bar and no one in my family, but i have ideas of perhaps its possible to take it on a freighter truck, i have to ask around first.

If and when its in my garage i will get more pics and details!

Cheers Alf

The Fiat importer/distributor at the time would have picked the standard spec & optional extras for their market, it still works the same today. The importer/distributor lets the factory know the standard spec when ordering the cars for their market.

In Ireland on S3 Super 2000/TC's the sunroof was not standard, but you could order it as a optional extra Smiley

did you have airconditioning as option in Sweden? Here in Italy, airco was optional for 2000tc supers... and sunroof also was.

Hi!
131 DOHC: No,ac became standard in the late ninties on most cars here, at the time they sold 131 most people never heard of ac here!

Well perhaps we need it for five weeks a year at most with the Scandinavian weather.
we never got any 131 with power steering either, not that we need it anyway(we are Vikings).

Finally I got an agreement with the seller so now I have paid a downpayment on the car, phuuu.as far as my wife, she is a good wife so it only costed me a new sofa!

I think that it might be a pickup of the car in about three weeks, I will give a new report and some pics.

Well the 2000tc you are picking has power steering as standard, so you will be delighted by your new hydraulic power steering, it's smooth and has absolutely no "electronic feeling" as moderns have.

Thanks Heini!

131DOHC: No,no power steering on any 131 it was not standard here in Sweden who only imported the Supermirafiori 2000Tc in 82-83,I think in all Scandinavia, we got sunroof instead...I think its like c.a.c 131 says above,it was different in all countries.

As far as I know, power steering was standard on all third series 2000tc in all countries, have never seen one in real life or in picture without this feature. Maybe fiat made some cars especially for your market without power steering because extremely cold winter would affect power steering oil.

I think that it is a fairly light car that really didn't need power steering, perhaps it was an expensive option that made the car cheaper and made the price more attractive in comparison to other brands.

I have had four mk3 before and seen a lot of them but no one with power steering!
I don't think the cold weather was a factor, many other European countries have the same cold as we have.

I would say that when Fiat Sweden picked the spec they thought that a sunroof would be better standard then power steering Smiley very few cars had power steering standard back then.

When I seen the photo of the engine bay of this Super, I did notice that it did not have power steering.

No plastic or metal power steering reservoir.

Hi guys!
I just found out thru the royal archive that this car has spent its days from 83 to -85 at a driving school!
Good or bad,I don't know...

I wouldn't mind to learn how to drive in a 131 supermirafiori!

I would not let that put you off, its a very rare 131 now Smiley It would have had a fully qualified driving instructor in it at all times Cheesy Would be a nice car to learn how to drive in back in the day Grin Did it have dual controls in it ? (passenger side clutch and brake pedals) ?

It was at mot the first thing before in traffic and once more after it was sold back at the fiat firm, since they don't require mot until the third year in traffic,it must have been mot for the dual pedals!

No dual pedals left sadly,  I have a friend who has a driving school he could offer lessons in a veteran car.
