This car was last seen by me in 1982 in Rathkeale Motors in Co Limerick.

Official records indicate the last address for when the car was taxed was a post office in Co Mayo in 1988.

It is a 1979 car and was getting rusty in a few places after just 2 years so it may have had a short life overall.

If anyone has any information at all, of what became of it or even if it survived (even in pieces) I'd love to hear about it.

Tnx

Hi Dave - I said my goodbyes to this car in 1982 as we drove off in a new gold Argenta 2000 - I just knew I would never see it again.

I still don't fully understand why I am so attached to this car - Possibly as it was bought at a formative time of my life (15-18), bought as a result of short test drive I was called home from school to come along with (every second of which I can still recall), I learnt to drive in it, maintained it cosmetically for it's time with us, etc... Embarrassed

So a minute's silence? Far too late for that...but I would dearly love to know what its eventual fate was.  Smiley

Thanks for the suggestions guys.

I have asked a Garda to check on the last known address (in Co Mayo) and sent off a letter - Unfortunately the address no longer exists and my letter was returned. I spoke with a guy who is big into the classic car scene in that county and he was not aware of the car - he promised to make to some enquiries but I never heard any more.

Sid131 thinks the car rings a bell with him in his 'hood but if he is right it was crashed and written off years ago!!  Embarrassed

hi Kev you can contact your local tax office  by letter and
for a small fee ( this is ireland) and tell them you were a
previous owner giving dates and see what happens. I  tried
this once looking for a 127 sport I had  and they told me the car
was never registered in Kerry where I was living when I owned
it but  you gotta try Tongue

Hey Mark - Many thanks for trying anyway - I appreciate the effort mate!? Wink

Didn't know that they actually dropped off - Maybe after a certain period of non taxation there is an automatic deletion..?? Huh

Found another picture.

At first glance this is "just" a picture of one of my younger sisters on her way to a Debutante ball with her beau but if you look in the background you can see our black 131 Sport with the beige/light brown wheel arch and the matching seat belt and brown velvet seat coverings. That's an Elm Motors sticker in the rear window where the car was bought - They still use the same sticker 30+ years later and are now once again the local Fiat dealer.  Smiley
