It's website renewal time again folks.
Every year I ask whether we should keep the website and forum going, and every year enough people say they'd like it to continue, so it does.
However, like everything else, the costs keep rising (20% VAT will be added to the cost below) while usage continues to fall. With free platforms such as Facebook available, many people understandably choose to use those instead and rarely visit the website.
That said, the two serve very different purposes. The website and forum contain a wealth of historical information and technical knowledge built up over many years. Facebook is excellent for day-to-day interaction, but posts quickly disappear from view and can be difficult to find later. What is shared today can easily be forgotten by tomorrow.
So I'd appreciate your thoughts. Should we continue to maintain the website and forum, despite the fact that the software is becoming outdated and, if I'm honest, I no longer have much enthusiasm for spending time updating it?
Let me know what you think.
If you are feeling generous and would like to donate to contribute to the cost of the website and forum, please see
