Title: Fiats in Terenure - 6th July
Post by: kev131 on June 22, 2008, 07:48:48 PM
Guys

There is likley to to be Lancia stand as well as an Italian car stand this year in Terenure and there are plans to have a classic Fiat stand as well.

Mark Clinton from Dublin is planning to have 4 classic Fiats there and if we can get a minimum of 10 cars we will qualify for our own stand.

I intend to go along as I belive both Mark Williams and Robert O Shea are. Is anyone else up for this and we could arrange to meet up outside of Dublin beforehand?

Please post your interest here if going.

Tnx

Some more details.

Plans are to meet at 10.00 at the Spa Well hotel.

From the Red Cow intersection travel south on the M50 for 2 junctions and exit the motorway. Apparently the hotel is very obvious and park in the hotel car park.

Once we are all there we plan to move on to the show together and we hope to have a space next to the X1-9 stand.

It would be great if you can make this one as it is the show with the biggest Italian presence on the calendar.

Well I have to say thanks for everyone for bringing their Fiats as the were more Fiats present then mg's or even ford escorts. I think Kev will post the pictures as I can never get them to upload but the tide has turned and now Fiats are playing a major part in these large car shows. It was also a joy driving home and overtaking a mint 124 saloon (Larry's) and a lovely X1/9 Lido from Kerry ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Hi Dave - Definitely a significant move forward in the Irish Fiat Classic Car scene - That was the biggest varied line up of Fiats that I've yet seen here. I'll to read out the list from memory - Your display arangment logic will help..!? ;)

Fiat 127 Series 2 Yellow
Fiat 127 Series 2 Orange
Fiat 128 3P White
Fiat 128 3P Green
Fiat 124 Berlina Beige
Fiat 124 Berline Beige
Fiat 124 Special Red
Fiat 124 Sport CC White
Fiat 125 Special Blue
Fiat 131 1300 CL White (Brooklands)
Fiat 131 Sport Orange
Fiat 130 Berlina Silver
Fiat X1-9 x 5

In addition dotted around the other stands were :

Fiat 126 Blue
Fiat 500 x 4
Fiat (Seat) 600
Fiat Topolino Blue
Fiat 850 White
Fiat 1100 Red
Fiat 127 Series 2 Yellow
Fiat 131 Panorama 1600 Auto Beige

This was on top of the Lancia and Alfa stands and the odd Ferrari and Maserati.

Highlight of the day (aside from Mark's absolutely superb 130) was driving from Portlaoise to Terenure passing everything on the road in all weathers with a pristine Fiat 124 Berlina 1200 stuck to my tail bumper! Nice one Larry!

Dave - My camera is away at the repairs so I only have some poor camera shots - But better than nothing I guess.

Biggest credit goes to Mark for bringing 4 cars to the event!

Also Dave for organising our stand - Hopefully we will need double the pitch size next year!

Definitely a big day for Italian metal in Ireland.

Hi also to Nick, Ger, Gerry, Charlie, etc great to see all the old faces again!

Hi Guys,

I went to the Classic Car Day in Terenure yesterday, what a day :o. I ended up going in Dave Nolans' 124 sport, what an experience, from start to finish ;D :D ;D. A lovely car and a deadly driver ( brilliant) 8) :o. We got up to the venue early , would have been earlier only Dave had to stop to help out a guy that had broken down on the side of the road in a FORD Cortina 1979. That seems to be Daves heart of gold .he would even stop to help someone in a FORD, not alone that but it was raining aswell...and Dave in a T-shirt. Come to think of it he was in a T-shirt at Gerry Kennedys (R.I.P.) funneral also and it was Baltic. He must have the skin of a Rhino.
Anyway back to the story..............We got into the field did a quick scout about , then the others started to arrive, again Dave sprung into action, getting the ars parked in line and in order( as you can see from the pics.... tanx Kev & Sid) :-*.

The amount of different cars was mind blowing for an irish event, it was well organized and very well supported. Even the weather was okay , the sun shone and it was very warm when it did, didn't it Gerafiori. Gerry forgot to bring his cap, won't forget the next time. We only had one 131 Sport  in lovely condition ,which was Kevin Doyles , hopefully by next year I'll have one myself again.
All in all it was a great day ...even the journey home was good ...a small convoy of some Fiats just appeared and dissapeared just a quick as the rain started to fall again.
Thanks to Dave , Kev, and Gerry

What a day ;) :D ;D :o 8) ::) Cheers GER
