Hi.

I am taking over a abarth replica project.

And i plan to make indipendent rear suspension from bmw e30.

Has anyone done this before? Tips. Pictures. Anything would be healpfull..!

first things first. good luck.

ive converted mine to independant. from my findings it is not the choice of diff that makes the conversion as such, but the suspension layout that dictates the success of the job because i already had a lsd in my solid axle so my conversion was handling based and not traction.

my car is on about page 3 of the project section of the forum, "the refit". i ve found out what i know by making mistakes, so if i can save you any.

was the bmw diff by choice or just that you had one to hand?

         



   

Whats your final drive ratios sdebez & mick131 ?

i am going to run 4:1. i was originally on 4:6 when i had the atlas type axle in but it was just to low with the sport 1st gear even with the 15" wheels.   

From memory the Bmw diff I have has a ratio of 3.63.

I chose bmw beacause i planed to use the complete rear subframe from e30 bmw,
Looks lik a easy fit..

And easy accesable parts lsd and ratios. And disc brakes.

But after reading about mick's car. I just might build the abarth ish rear suspension with golf hub carrier.

I have on hand a 188 dif case lsd 25 % and 3.91 ratio. I might just go for this one.
