RSD campaigned some of their Escorts as well as one of their 131s last weekend and unfortunately had a dreadful time of it.  :'( The Escorts suffered from a series of 'offs' - probably not the cars' fault  ;) but the Fiat didn't do much better, having to retire due to a slipping differential.

Initial signs are very good for the 131 though and hopes are high of a good result in the coming weeks. 8)

I was lucky enough to be there both on friday night and saturday for all the spectator stages. :)

You're right about the sound sach,its got a very loud and distinctive "bark" to it compared to the escorts. 8)

Simon, i've heard that 18 cars went off on the first stage due to idiot spectators messing with the stage furniture. Steve Bannisters RSD escort was flat out when it went off apparentley.Its a testiment to the build quality of the cars that the crew got out alive.
We were watching on the second to last stage at the woodyard spectator area and the 131 came through fine.When i picked up the results sheet in the service area after the finish,it said that it was a gearbox problem on the stage we saw it come through so it must've happend near the end of the stage.
I since found out it was the diff like you say Simon,as it was on rsd's website. :(

Other notable cars that caught my eye were the Opel Ascona A (car 419) and the Toyota Celica (car 417) both very well turned out cars. :)

Thanks for the clips Wayne.....does it seem like the Escorts are carrying more speed through the corners....? Might be a false impression although it could be explained by the the fact that the 131s are still in development.

Yes some of the escorts were carrying more corner speed than the 131 but i reckon that's down to most of the escort boys knowing their cars like the back of their hands for 30+ years. :)

For the 131's first event and to have only a minor diff issue with no other problems with the car,it was a great achievement.With a proven championship winning driver in Julian Reynolds who's still learning the car,it wont be long before the results start coming in i'm sure. 8) :)

Had them in the garage for around 8 years.Was going to fit them to the black car i used to own,but pikeys stole the shell from outside my garage before i found some where to keep it. :'(
They've been gathering dust since then,so i thought why not try them out on the tango car! It handles better and accelerates through the gears a lot quicker too. Proberbly does quite a bit less to the gallon now but who cares about that eh?!  ;D
