Rare as hens teeth ,your better off with a ford item and axle or an other make, i'm sure its been

Good point,  but ... I have 8" wheels and do some real racing ( in vintage car class).  Believe it or not some of my competitors (which do not appear to be as strict in following originality or their cars have them strongly modified. Others are just like me. And the real prestige in my circles is to keep the car as original as really possible (win or lose the race).

I am a real crazy purist. Originality is my very strong policy. Believe it or not all elements including plastic hooks for the wires under the hood are ORIGINAL fiat 131 pieces.

Before I put my bucket seats in I had to see pictures of an original 131 Abarth with these seats. As it turned out these seats were taken from an original 131 Abarth crashed in Norway. They probably are Recaro and came from Audi, but I saw few original rally cars Walther Rorhl cars and they had a great variety of seats - none original equipment.

I can put non originals only as service (maintenance) items like disk breaks , disk pads, clutch, tires, even muffler, but all key mechanical parts must be originals or remakes like pistons, camshafts , but will not go for. Even Wheels must at least look like the ones used in 1975-1985 and were or could be used in original Mirafiori 131 or 131 Abarth. I am using both classic Smoor wheels 205x8x13 and original 13" Cromodoras. I am really looking for the CD60 (15")  Cromodoras.

Bottom line:  Using Ford parts is pretty much out of the question. Will wait for something more original.

I phoned this guy Trevor Godwin a while back & he can convert your axle to lsd but will need your axle, ball park figure was around ?800, you would then have genuine axle with lsd, worth talking to to see for yourself phone number is on the following link.

i have also been in touch with gripper diffs & here is John McMahons reply
Sid,

We have not previously designed or made a Fiat 131 LSD unit...

This is not a problem as we do many, many one-off designs.  We would need the original axle unit (casing, open diff & halfshafts/driveshafts)  to measure.

Design, testing and production would take approx 8 weeks and cost a total of ?900.00

yours,

John McMahon

When i asked could i post his reply because there might bee more people interested in lsd for 131 fiat here is his reply by email

Sid,

by all means post the info on the web.

More importantly..

If we build a batch of   4 off  LSD units then the cost price comes down to   ?750+vat  each  as the design  and set-up tooling is shared over the batch.

yours,

John McMahon
