my father bought a brand new 128 in 1980, what a pile of shit it was, dissolved with rust  after 2 years pure scrap, i remember the day we picked it up gleaming red & parked beside it  was a beautiful grey 131 sport with pippin red seats & the delivery towels, it was bought by a local butcher & it  did its best to also dissolve into a pile of rust, just not as quickly as the 128

This reminds me of a conversation I had with a man who ran a fiat car dealership in the late seventies early eighties and he told me that fiat had left hundreds of new 128s in fields in the uk were they were sitting in water for about two years and they had rotted and fiat told them to clean them up and resray them and sell them as new.

David a good friend of mine served his time with Fiat & at that time most of the japs were rusty as well but they fitted new panels to their cars when they came in for warranty repair, where fiat just filled & painted over the rust "fact" shame that started the ball rolling against Fiat here & then the Ritmo completely destroyed their reputation.

Re the ritmo thing, a friend bought a four year old black strada 130tc in I think 1989 and I was following him in his orange sport and he said he saw the sport in his rear view mirror and thought he had made a mistake although it was a quick car at the time.  But the one I could never get on with was the Regatta, the first one I had was a 100s in gold but I just hated it as it was always a let down when comparing it to a 131 supermirafiori, maybe its I was never that keen on fwd ? also had a red Regatta 70 for a while for a runabout.

 Smiley Hi Sid ?
No not really I've had one and lean towards the supers which I hope to start on mine very soon. I like their 4 doors family feel but with similar performance as Sport, chrome window surrounds etc.
But I do occasionally enquire after Jasons old Sport which sadly lies dormant on a driveway in Bilsthorpe...at least last time I passed by.
No my Super has to be a priority but doubt will make this years  3MA

sorry mislead you
