18th April 2011Mille automobili italiane star at Brooklands
Brooklands Museum gears up for its annual Italian Car Day on Saturday 30th April.
Over 1,000 Italian cars ? from the fastest Ferrari to the most unassuming Fiat Uno - will fill Brooklands Museum?s grounds to overflowing on Saturday, April 30th. They will be there to help Auto Italia magazine celebrate the 25th anniversary of the UK?s first all-Italian car event, which moved to the Birthplace of British Motorsport and Aviation 20 years ago. All the great Italian marques, including Ferrari, Maserati, Lamborghini, Alfa Romeo, Fiat and Lancia will be there: amongst more than 200 Ferraris will be a Formula 1 show car in the livery of the great ace Michael Schumacher.
The event gates open at 8.30am and the timetable for the day includes an hour of demonstration runs for some very special cars on the Mercedes-Benz World handling circuit from 12 noon, and a session on the famous Brooklands Test Hill in the afternoon. In addition to the visiting Italian machinery, all the usual Museum displays including cars, motorcycles, aircraft and the only publicly accessible Concorde in the South East of England, will all be open. The event will have an extensive Trade Village and the Sunbeam Caf? and several additional food outlets will be open all day for hungry visitors.
Parking for Italian cars will be on the Museum site with access from Brooklands Road, the B374, although owners are advised to arrive early to guarantee space. Parking for non-Italian cars will be in The Heights off Wellington Way and overflow parking for both Italian and non-Italian cars has been arranged at neighbouring Mercedes-Benz World ? visitors are advised to follow event signage on the day.
