After a great deal of correspondence from the current insurers of my 131 Abarth, Firebond in Cambridge, they have cancelled my policy, despite sending 'signed for' post to the wrong address - twice! They also insisted on telling me that my 131 Abarth should be a three door hatchback Angry Total Muppets! Angry I wouldn't mind, but they know what the car is as they had insured it since the day I purchased it - three years ago! Shocked

So, now I need to get it insured - in a hurry!

Who insures your 131? I paid ?185 (which I thought was expensive!) for 3,000 miles a year, and agreed value of ?15,000 (which is rather low), so don't want to pay more than that!

I was insured with Norton Insurance brokers in Birmingham (www.norton-ib.co.uk ) 0121 246 5050.

The policy I had on my Stada Abarth was with an insurance company called Chauser and their Heritage policy. It was for a limited 3000 mileage a year and excess of ?150 fully comp.

Many years ago I used to be insured with Firebond but found them to be useless and not understand the classic car scene.

My 131 as well as my other old cars are now insured on a single policy with Richard Hoskins (http://www.rhclassicinsurance.co.uk/). They are very good, reasonably priced and understand classic cars.

Adrian Flux Insurance (http://www.adrianflux.co.uk/) specialise in Classic cars as well as kit cars so they should be able to insure a limited production car like the Abarth.

Footman James (http://www.footmanjames.co.uk/) claim to be the best and biggest in the Classic Car Insurance market and they are recommended by a number of Classic Car Clubs so maybe you should give them a try.

Chris Knott (http://www.chrisknott.co.uk/) is the broker recommended by the Fiat Motor Club (GB) and as a member you should receive a discount and they should of course know about the 131 Abarth if they claim to be specialist Classic Fiat insurers (they use Lancaster Insurance I believe)

I use Lancaster. I've never had any problems with them. But then again,i don't own a car that was never an official uk imported vehicle.

Hope you get more sense out of your next insurer! Smiley
