Gone (back in the day) but never forgotten

« on: October 30, 2012, 12:00:08 PM »

Hi everyone,
I know I do not contribute much to this fab site, but recently I found the negatives (not seen since 1983!!) for the two pics (as linked here) they're not really too good, but i am sure all fellow 131 lovers will play 'spot the Supermirafiori'!!
Unfortuneatley i hadn't discovered 131's when I took these pics...was into Mini's hence focus not on correct car...sorry   Roll Eyes

Nice photo's Chris of S2 Super's, I like the mini too I have had mini's for the last 20 years, it's the first type mini Mayfair that was the top spec back in the day, was the first mini to have Factory headrests on the front seats.

I love the way the mirafiori steel wheels stick out from all the other 80's cars they are so distinctive and still look good to this day  Smiley

Great Pictures

I think this was the first Mini 1,000 to have hesdrests. The late 70's Clubman that was the up spec version had velour but not HR's.

However, did the late 70's 1275GT have HR's  Undecided Cheesy

While looking for something completely different, I came across the car park photo below. It must be from 1976 because the Amaranth (dark red) Fiat 124 saloon in the middle of the photo is mine and has an 'L' plate on it which means I was teaching my wife (who wasn't my wife yet) to drive. She passed her test in June 1976 so the photo must  be before then; might even be late 1975. Can't recognise or remember the car park but it might be the car park at The Harrow College of Technology and Art in which case the photo must be 1975. Maybe one of you can date it more accurately from some of the cars in the photo?  Wink

Theo

The MK1 Met Green Cavalier in the top right was launched in 1976, so it would certainly be no older.

That is the newest car that I can see.

Have you noticed the white 132 at the front. I really need to get out more  Shocked Grin Smiley
