He was a lovely man. I met him in 2005 at the LMC AGM. He was the guest speaker at the Gala dinner and he told some great stories. He was one of the people responsible for the development of Lancia's 4 wheel drive system as used in the Delta. But the first development vehicle was the Trevi Bimotore. Simplest way to test 4 wheel drive according to Lancia is get a front wheel drive Trevi VX and fit another VX engine at the back driving the rear wheels. According to Giorgio, the Trevi Bimotore was extremely fast and handled superbly but it never won anything as it kept running out of fuel. Obviously nobody thought of adding 2 fuel tanks to go with the 2 engines. R.I.P. Giorgio.
