Would the 131 community on this site be upset if I converted this particular car into a 2 door race car?

Would be better than turing a genuine sport into a race car, and would make a lot of parts available (power steering, electric windows, interior) for you guys.

Let me know your thoughts, I would hate to get the 131 cognoscenti offside!

Nicolas

PS  Did I spell cognoscenti correctly?

Seeing those pictures,it wouldn't take a lot to put that car back on the road, provided that the seller isn't hiding other bad bits underneath.500sterling would be my bid on it without seeing it.So what do the rest of our forum members think Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes.Eugene

Looks well worth saving. Will be interesting to see what this makes being a series 3.

Yes good question although it looks worth ?300 from the pics alone if the engine is running. No evidence of terminable rot from the pics..which of course could be deliberate!  Wink

Nice to see another car materialise - This is the 3rd S3 2000 to come up in this colour in the UK in the last 18 months or so.

If the panels are bad we all know Yagmur has ample stuff for the 4 door.
So i would say for the true 4 door fan its worth a look that is if the tin worm has not eaten the floor etc . !
If all that is ok, well then its worth a look i think.

Ok look at it this way.If you can't afford a sport, then this is the nearest one is ever going to get for reasonable money to be able to keep up to a sport or overtake a sport Shocked Shocked Roll Eyes Grin.If everyone wants a sport, then there is no variety among 131s.So whats wrong with a TC super ::)For me i can't see anything wrong except for two extra doors Roll Eyes.Eugene

dead on Eugene but if anyone was good enough with their hands it would be very possible to move the B pillar back & fit 2 door quarter panels & doors, thats if you could get the panels & doors & a good sport would be born!

Smiley Sounds a drastic / messy way to achieve a 2 door to me and loses yet another half decent 4 door..............btw is the roof line not different on Supers as the rear screen has a more pronounced lip ? I hope to view this car on Monday as car is located in Derbyshire not too far from me.

I was involved with a discisuon some time ago about making 2 door 131's from 4 door cars.
In my opinion then and now, its just far too much work, Doors, Inner wings, outer wings, 'B' post, Glass. Add the cost up and you could probably find a 2 door or for the money you spend hacking it about you could probably have made the car into a very very nice 4 door.
Then you will inevitably have insurance problems if it was for the road, any accident and you could be in trouble if Mr Plod or the insurance company notice the car is not a described on the log book,
2 door cars do come up now and then, if i were you i would keep looking and start collecting the spares you know your going to need which ever car comes up, then what you dont need that you may have collected you can sell on.
I have a 2 door but wouldnt mind a 4 door, they do have their charm and useability.

Steve & Ian i said if you were handy at this kinda work which i am it would neither be messy or hacking, when i worked in the coachbodies manys a new e class i cut the b pillar out & moved back 11 inches, its easy when you know how & the roof is the same lads & its only a wreck lads not like you would be cutting up a good 4 door!
& where would you find the 2 door Steve? well i can get one but its not pretty needs total resto but its only for someone that can weld & improvise.
