Im going to show my age now, but as a teenager i remember the Lombard RAC Rally. A 3 day and night event that really used to test drivers and cars, i would go up to Keilder and down to Wark Forest Scarborough and spend many a night freezing sometimes in the snow just to get a glimse of passing headlights and glowing red brake disc, but the sound of a full on Rally car making its way through the forests at night in the dark!!!!!! would make it all worthwhile, we could identify cars simply by the noise they would make whilst approaching our particular corner in the forest, I only wish the experience could be recreated, used to make the hairs on my neck stand up.
Long live Rallying.

Some glimpes of a 131 in San Marino this year

Be paitent, the first quarter is a montage of stills.

And....

I saw an english version of this in the cinema when I was a young fella.
It was like watching a black version of Smokey and the Bandit,
to my young eyes.

Some recent 131 Abarth in-car footage. The current crop of WRC machines have come a long way since then. For example the driver and co-driver are sitting at the same height.

And the best 'till last. In just one word, FANTASTIC!

Classic Italian market Fiat ad. from the early '70's

For all those of you coming by ferry, we would like video evidence that you boarded your ferry in a similar manner to this depiction in the video clip!!

The words "Politically Correct" have spoiled advertising for the forseeable future.

Great!! Cheesy

One of the best Fiat 124 car chases, in fact one of the best car chases ever, is in a film called "The Burglars" (also released as "Le Casse") with Jean-Paul Belmondo driving a Fiat 124 Special and being chased by Omar Sharif in an Opel. I've been trying to get a copy of the film for years...

Thanks for that link!? Smiley Wink
I hadn't seen it for a while and I still think it's a great chase sequence. The continuity is a bit off with the cars gaining and loosing dents seemingly at random but still great!? Grin I wonder how many Fiats they wrecked filming that sequence? Shocked

Thanks too for the German name of the film. This thread reminded me to search for the film again and I have found and currently downloading "Le Casse" which presumably will have French dialogue.

Great chase sequence guys - Well done for finding it Graham.

Presumably you guys have also seen this one...?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EoP1qjR-i3w&mode=related&search=

I'd never seen either before today.

I rememeber seeing a Fiat 124 Berlina being used by the bad guys in an episode of the New Avengers but I cant think of any other 124/131 scenes off hand.

Having lived in Paris for a while, I can confirm that Parisians do drive like that, most of the time.
The only dent-free french car is a new car. Parking by ear is the norm.

That 131 car chase is fantastic! Obviously Mr Belmondo likes his Fiats!
The 131/Peugeot chase has a lot of similarities to the 124/Opel chase so I'd guess they are by the same director or stunt team. Unless Mr Belmondo had a lot of input for both chases.
