1977 131 1600.
Been out tonight, initially all ok, lights on and dip and main beam working fine.
After a long run on main beam, lights would not dip.
After returning home found out that I can't even switch them off, three way switch has no effect, have had to disconnect the battery.
I'm suspecting a relay stuck! Burnt out!
Any ideas?
Help!

Yes, relay must be stuck on. Most probably the contacts 'welded' themselves together. The relay is clearly marked on the fusebox cover so check that first. I think the high beam and horn relays are the same so you could use the horn relay in place of the lights relay to test.

Spot on Theo!
Identified the relevant relay with a bit of switching on off and feeling each one.
Changed it and all back to normal.
Opened the old relay and the contacts were like a set of very old points with one contact about gone!
